Fotune Cooking Wisdom
"Express love in the language that brings joy to your soul," says my fortune cookie from my recent visit to Cafe Ginger, one of my favorite Chinese spots in Houston. I stumbled upon it this morning, while gathering my things for a trip to the orthodontist — fun, I know! I can't recall my initial reading, but this time the words leapt out at me. The language that brings joy to my soul is photography. Behind the scenes, outside of social media, I often share photos with loved ones directly. This is my way of loving them, even though they may be too busy admiring my work to realize that sharing photos with them fulfills my heart. When they open the photo for the first time, I want them to feel almost as good as when I stood at that specific place at that specific moment in time and pressed the shutter. Yesterday, when I left the Adobe Create Now event at 713 Music Hall, it was golden hour. Instead of rushing home, I walked around snapping photos, taking advantage of the natural light. In that 20–30 mins, I could literally feel stress leaving my body. However, it wasn't until encountering my fortune cookie again this morning that I realized stress was leaving me because I was in the process of expressing my love language. As the Adobe creators say, "Do What You Love."
